Getting "Custom_domain is owned by another account" trying to add a domain I own

Hi,

I own foodbank.co for our charity organization, and I’m trying to add map.foodbank.co as a custom domain for https://foodbankco.netlify.app/. our DNS is hosted by Cloudflare so I’d like to use A/CNAME record to point map.foodbank.co to Netlify page.

however, I’m getting the error “Custom_domain is owned by another account” when I try to add a custom domain.

how do I fix this issue? looks like someone tried to overtake our domain though I don’t know why.

I can prove the ownership of foodbank.co

Thank you!
Max

It does appear that domain name is already linked to the team which operates https://food-bank.netlify.app. There are several ways to resolve this.

First, if you have access to the Netlify account where this domain is already being used, please delete the other site or DNS zone configuration there first. This will allow the domain to be added to the new account/site.

Second, if you don’t have access to the other site or team settings, our Support team can remove the link between this domain name and the other Netlify site/team - provided you can verify ownership or control of the domain.

To do this, please create the following domain name system (DNS) record:

netlify 3600 IN TXT "for Netlify via Community 15003"

This is the text format for a DNS record. Most people enter their DNS records into a web UI these days (instead of manually editing a text file). If you are using a web UI, below are key/value pairs to help create this DNS record:

Key = Value
Name/Host/Subdomain = netlify
TTL/“Time to Live” = 3600
Type = TXT
Value = “”

Please let us know if there are any questions and/or which solution above is preferred.
