Dns record error #dns

  • choose at least one appropriate tag for your post (more is better)
  • a short description & what you have tried to fix it (DNS really may take up to 48 hours to propagate.)
  • build log errors, screenshots, etc
  • your Netlify instance name, for example: deluding-chances-2b123.netlify.com

#DNS records
My DKIM and SPF records are showing an error. I have checked these and the records are inputted correctly and I have tried this twice now.
Any help please?

Hi, @atomic-orange, and welcome to the Netlify community site.

I checked this domain name but this Netlify site isn’t active at this time:

We are happy to troubleshooting this issue. To do so, we need to know what DNS record isn’t working (or records if there are more than one).

Would you please tell us the domain name and record type? For example, is the the SPF record for example.com? Please let us know all records which are not working and we will research why to get it resolved.

Hi @luke thank you for the response. I am getting an error with my mail delivery from my external server. It say the DKIM and SPF record doesn’t exist at netlify. I have tried installing the records twice and am getting the same error.

The domain is www.minus-acoustics.co.uk

Hi, @atomic-orange, this domain is not using Netlify DNS at this time. The name servers used can be found here:

$ whois minus-acoustics.co.uk | grep -i "server"
% IANA WHOIS server

I do see a DNS zone configuration for this domain at Netlify here:

However, it isn’t active at this time. To activate Netlify DNS for this domain, please change the DNS name servers at the domain registrar to the ones shown for this domain at the link above.

Once that change is made, Netlify DNS should become active within 24 hours (due to the 86400 time to live values on the existing DNS records for the name servers used now):

minus-acoustics.co.uk.	86400	IN	NS	ns2.krystal.co.uk.
minus-acoustics.co.uk.	86400	IN	NS	ns1.krystal.co.uk.

I did test the SPF and TXT records created at Netlify DNS. They do work correctly if the name servers for Netlify DNS are used:

Note, you don’t have to use Netlify DNS to point a custom domain to a site at Netlify. There is an alternative - external DNS:
